User Experience & Information Architecture Guidelines

It’s often easy to forget some fundamental rules and practices when you are deeply involved in the specifics of a project. Time, resource and client demands can sometimes mean that it’s difficult to take a step back and remember those essential principles that ensure the user experience and architecture of our solutions are at the best.

I’ve been inspired by Whitney Hess and her Guiding principles for User Experience. These concisely written principles resonated and definitely struck a chord with me.

To make them into easy reminders I’ve created a set of images / cards / poster elements that hopefully help you too. Check out a sample below. Download my full User Experience Guidelines Poster in PDF.

Great work – some really useful pointers there. I’m building a new site now and based on that advice I may rethink a few pages. Looking forward to seeing more.
